Hello Forster SLSC Members

I am pleased to hold the position of Surf Sport Director for the 2024-2025 season at Forster SLSC.

A bit about me -

I completed my Bronze Medallion in 1982 at Wanda SLSC. Over the following years I competed at State and Australian titles before moving onto my working life, marrying and having 3 children. In 2007 I found myself living in Forster and felt the need to join the club where I became the Junior Activities Coordinator for several years. I then moved on to become the club coach and Youth Director where I had lots of fun with the kids, travelling to carnivals and camps. In 2017 I moved away to Sydney where I joined Bondi Surf Bathers LSC where I have competed nationally and internationally. I am currently a SLS Performance board coach, pool coach, swim coach and ski coach. My children have all grown up in the surf club and enjoyed the skills that have shaped who they are today. This season I would like to offer my coaching skills to club members so that they can enjoy what surf sports has to offer, improve their patrolling capacity and enable them to compete at carnivals local and nationally.

I will be available for a number of roles -

1. Registration of club members at local, State, Australian and international carnivals.

2. As a source of information to members wishing to compete at carnivals.

3. Surf sport coaching in the disciplines of pool rescue, surf swim, board, ski and iron person events.

4. Support at carnivals.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

* Carnival entries have a closing date. Whilst I will communicate the close date it is your responsibility to contact me to ensure your entry is in prior to the closing date.

* You will be responsible for transporting your equipment to the carnival location (board, ski, etc)

* There is a cost for carnival entries. If you fail to attend a carnival where Forster SLSC has paid the entry fee you will be expected to repay the entry fee in full. (unless you have a reasonable excuse for not attending)

* At carnivals there is a quota of athletes to officials. Some parents may be required to do an officials course to enable them to assist at carnivals.

* Other carnivals are held during the season. These can be viewed on the Surf Life Saving NSW Surf Sport website page.

* During the season Surf Sport training camps are made available to athletes wishing to improve their skills. These opportunities will be advertised for members.
